Superuser reader lucas kauffman wants to know if there is a way to disable the trackpoint mouse button from within windows on his dell laptop.
You will not be able to click on anything with the middle trackstick however you can use that to navigate to a particluar position like a mouse.
I have a dell latitude e6410 and the track pointer stick has a mind of it s own.
The one below your keyboard is the touchpad buttons.
On the mouse properties window go to the device select tab and choose between stick stick and pad or pad only.
Most of them use the trackstick when the touchpad is disabled as the palm touches the touchpad when typing.

In looking through various forums it appears that disabling the trackstick requires a different trick depending on the hardware os.
If i ever move the computer or sometimes if i even bump the table it s on the pointer stick gets jostled and it will aggressively drag the mouse across the screen to one corner or the other making it.

How can i disable the trackstick on my keyboard permanently.

Even the slightest jostling of the thing sends the cursor god knows where.
Anyway i just replaced the keyboard with one that has the keyboard illumination but the keyboard i bought does not have the little trackstick in the middle of the keyboard.
I have installed new drivers but nothing and in the system options i can t find any option about the trackstick.
